Surgence is an old English word rarely used, but I wish to bring it back in the context of Earth’s Climate.
Surge ~ from Latin surgere “to rise, arise, get up, mount up, ascend; attack.”
+ ence ~ suffix commonly attached to verbs to form abstract nouns of “process”, fact, or state.
Climate Surgence – an upwelling of thermal heat trapped in Earth’s lower* atmosphere, causing more energetic storms, extreme droughts, increased floods, fire, landslides, biotic suffering, and extremes in human temperament.
Earth is not a machine. I have never recommended the Monbiot-advocated use of the mechanical “breakdown”, sadly rising in use, yet linguistically an incorrect description of what is a fundamental rise in the thermal volatility of Earth’s complex atmosphere and interconnected processes.
To pinpoint collective causal species, and then dominant gender? Perhaps Climate Androsurgence.
And more? WhiteMandroSurgence, and not in a good way!

* Remember, cooling and contracting of the upper atmosphere is key vertical fingerprinting (or kwelical evidence) of anthropogenic causation of radiative forcing, because it serves to further trap heat in the lower atmosphere and skew key patterns such as polar vortices and jet streams.
